now i’m like a bank “day trader”

according to my mom. and for it, i blame my suze discovery a few years ago.

this is why she thinks that:
* my checking acct is at 5/3 (with branches everywhere around here.)

* i have a money market acct at 5/3. this USED to be my “big” savings account, but the suze discovery (and her subsequent advice that you can get much better rates elsewhere!) got me to yank most of it out. now, it’s 10% what it used to be, and it’s kind of my “quick access” emergency acct.

* i have a 1-year CD at 5/3 (which comes due feb 11th), which i opened there because i got them to match the best 1-year rate at the time.

* i have an online savings account with hsbc. the interest rate alone is why i transferred most of my 5/3 MMA out! (disclaimer - transfers in and out take 3 biz days, but if you can put up with this, i LOVE this account.)

* after i cash my CD out, half is going into a roth IRA and other half will be a 6-month CD through a bank i found on bankrate - amtrust direct.

yeah, yeah, so i’m a personal finance geek. i admit that! lol

sidenote: if anyone wants access to suze’s YF&B site (young, fabulous & broke), let me know and i’ll send you the access code. this is OK as she has stated on her show that if you’re too broke/cheap to buy the book, go to a bookstore, open to page 17 and write it down! it’s kinda cool… you answer a 5 page questionnaire about things like savings, financial priorities, debt, etc and the site gives you personalized “action items” to correspond with the survey.
