the whole leg thing
March 3, 2006since my last post, quite a bit has happened.
i got an appt. with my regular doctor on monday, feb. 20 and she decided that the urgent care doc. probably didn’t give me the right antibiotics - greaaaaaat. so i got set up with a different antibiotic.
a few days and a few potential nervous breakdowns later (probably partially stemming from the fact that my doctor didn’t tell me if the medication was just going to clear up the infection or if the cyst might go away, the pain, etc.), i decided that i wanted my grandpa to take a look at it… because he’d give me a straight answer. i stopped by his house and the first thing he said was “you need to get that taken out, and i’d have a surgeon do it”. (just what i wanted to hear…)
he got my doctor’s nurse to get me an appt. with a surgeon he knew, and we were thinking it’d be a consult (my grandpa was pretty sure that he’d have to put me under to remove it). oh, if only that’d have been the case…
no, he decided to “clean it up” in his office for me. which i must say, i don’t remember much of… i remember that the shot (if it was supposed to be a local anestetic, he needed to give me much more!!!) hurt like heck, i vaguely remember when he cut open the cyst and the fluid came out, and i also remember holding my mom’s hand (i thought i was death-gripping it, but she says i wasn’t) and saying “ow-ow-ow-ow-ow”…. over and over… while my leg just burned something fierce and desperately trying not to faint. and then afterward, it took me at least 10-15 minutes to be able to even sit up against the wall without shaking or thinking i was going to faint.
that was 2 days ago. i tried desperately to go back to work afterward, but within 10 minutes of sitting down i got dizzy - so i took the rest of the afternoon off as sick time (so i could just lay in bed). then yesterday morning, i picked up my laptop so i could work remotely yesterday - which has got to be one of the most boring things ever.
and then last night, to add to all the fun, i had to sit in the tub to clean the hole out. (i should probably add that i still have not SEEN the hole in my leg - supposedly it’s about half dollar sized but elliptical shaped, and kinda deep.) then afterward my mom changed the gauze/tape for me. holy… that alone set me back significantly in pain level. i could hardly walk afterward (or even sit up), it hurt so bad.
today i may end up working remotely again. my parents are going downtown for the home and garden show at 11am though, so if i get stir-crazy enough and feel OK (so far, it’s not too bad but i also haven’t taken a shower in 2 days now - yes, i feel gross), they’ve volunteered to drop me off at my office.
but yeah.. that’s what i’ve been up to. fun, huh?

feel better! I’d tell you to come back to the office so we can monitor red wings stories and make fun of certain um, employees…but I only want you to do that if you’re 100% well.

Ouch! Sounds like that sucks a lot worse than my tooth does by now. Hope things are better soon. Surgery scares me. I’ve never had any thankfully.
