go lightning & pistons!!!

June 7, 2004

hard to believe it’s been 6 days since i got back… it seems so much longer ago that i went already! not to mention, it’s pathetic that i haven’t written anything yet - so i’ll try to fix that right now.

i guess i’ll start off at the beginning.

oh, and before i get into this, i really should mention two things:
1) my extent of visiting NYC in my other 3 trips had been: a lot of oxygen’s studios in 2000, a few hours at the garden back in february, and a few restaurants between the previous 2 visits. that’s it. pathetic, huh?
2) you’re not getting a ton of details in this because i really don’t feel like writing it all.

the flights over were pretty uneventful - i think flying on saturday instead of friday turned out to be the PERFECT choice - and once again i managed to switch my seats to put me in the front. (i do that for the sole reason of getting on the plane later and off quicker… lol) once i landed, i had a rather… interesting taxi ride.

anyway… i stayed at marina’s apartment in brooklyn saturday night. we didn’t do much really, since i was just slightly exhausted from being up at 6am to finish packing and fly out. her neighborhood is 500% different than mine is, so after dinner we went outside and walked around for awhile. and i did get her to watch part of the hockey game with me when we got back to her apartment… (that’s such an accomplishment… lol!)

on sunday, i took the train to manhattan alone (which wasn’t remotely as hard as it could have been with my luggage and all) and met up with drew. the weather was absolutely perfect, so we spent a decent chunk of the day outside. and i’ll even publically admit he kicked my butt in mini-golf.

monday wasn’t the best weather-wise, so we spent a few hours at the museum of natural history and then watched miracle (yes, that’s the hockey movie).

flying back tuesday was… umm… ended up sitting on the runway for 45 min at laguardia because of a ground stoppage or something (there were storms in pittsburgh that were causing the probs, i believe). then when we got going, we had to fly way out of the way over allentown PA, then columbus, then north to detroit. plus there was a good amount of turbulence… (oh, i love that stuff  went up to 33k feet and we were still hitting it!) thankfully, i had gotten stuck with a layover of about an hour and 45 min in detroit, so the fact that we were quite late didn’t matter and i made my flight to GR fine.

overall, it was completely worth the fact that i didn’t stay in the city. now if i was only independently wealthy… i think i could fly back there quite often!

****

since tuesday, not a ton has been going on. thankfully, my digestive system seems to have mostly stopped going crazy on me - so at least i can (somewhat) eat again. my dad’s insisting that i go in and get it checked out though.

next week, on the other hand, will end up being slightly busy. there’s the open house at berlin tuesday and race on wednesday. then in a few weeks (the 30th), a hazel concert at the intersection. i can’t wait for that thing… you really have no idea. july will be quite boring, because at this point, i have nothing interesting planned. (however, i may try to go to the truck race at MIS… i don’t know.) august will be more uneventfulness, minus another race at berlin. but no drew, i’m not forgetting about the olympics.

ok, enough rambling. hopefully i won’t be so slow to post the next time. (yes, impossible, i know).
