rocket science…?

ok, i’m slightly ticked right now.

so i leave the house to drive in to work around 8, like always. by some miracle, the highway isn’t a) backed up to where i can’t take an alternate route and b) accident-loaded, which contradicts quite a bit of what i was hearing on the radio this morning while i was in the shower.

so anyway… i get to the parking ramp, and there’s a big white pickup truck sitting at the gate. since i didn’t see her get a timestamped ticket from the machine, i figured they were one of the people with monthly parking (in which case, you have a cardkey thing to set on your front dash that a sensor notices and lets you in w/o a ticket) and for some reason, their card wasn’t being detected.

and then the idiot started to back up. (i was sitting behind the truck, but had 3-4 feet of “breathing room” thankfully.) i don’t know if they expected the machine to psychically realize a vehicle was in front of the gate and give them a ticket automatically, or were they just dense enough to miss the 3 “push for ticket” signs (including the one located ON the button you have to push)?!

and then they started to back up again. and either didn’t seem to a) notice that there was a car RIGHT there (at that point) or b) didn’t care.

luckily the street (Pearl - between Monroe and Ottawa - for those of you who know downtown GR) had red lights at the intersections on either side of the ramp, so i was able to back up quickly, because at that point, i was about 3 inches from getting clobbered. and if my car would have gotten bumped, even if it didn’t have a scratch… oh, watch out.

so i got stuck going around the block while dense-person got their freaking parking ticket and went into the ramp, and thank GOD the person in front of me when i got back to the ramp had half a brain cell.

am i out of line where i expect people to have a clue? i mean, if you go into a “park based on time” lot or whatever, isn’t it common sense that they have to record what time you enter the lot somehow, so they can charge you the right amount…?

i didn’t think it was rocket science, but apparently i was wrong.

and i won’t post what i wanted to do to that truck if i could find it in the ramp, even though they didn’t hit me…
