massive frustration…

September 11, 2003

argh. it’s another “this is what happened, but i really doubt you’ll believe me”. why do i have this happen every once in awhile? lol. it’s quite irritating.

anyway, here’s the story (warning, pretty dang long):

last night, a sportscaster mentioned that up to a few hundred tickets for the “red and white game” at the van andel arena (which is a red wings & grand rapids griffins scrimmage basically) were going on sale this AM at 10. being the wingnut that i am, who can’t ever go to detroit to watch them play (or afford the ticket prices after buying my new bed) decided to wake up nice and early and try to get a few.

anyway, the sportscast said tickets plus, which means going to Jenison Meijer - no big deal, seeing that it’s about 2 miles away. because i wanted a better chance, i went at 9am. (i knew that Meijer doesn’t have a “lottery” to get tickets - where they hand out tickets with a number on them, then randomly draw a number and that person’s first in line, the person behind them is second in line, etc, and the person in front of them’s screwed basically… lol).

well i waited at Meijer for a bit, and the clueless lady there was like “oh, we don’t have a contract to do tickets for Van Andel, you have to go through Ticketmaster” (which is at any D&W, about 3 miles from there in the opposite direction of my house). i told her that EVERYTHING i read said tickets plus, but she was adamant that it wasn’t, and wouldn’t check the computer. so i called my mom and told her that i was going to Jenison D&W (she was going to come around 9:30 and keep me company for half hour). at that point, it was 9:20.

so i get to D&W and have the girl THERE look up tickets. of course, there’s nothing in their system, so i turned to leave (i knew the Meijer lady was, like i mentioned earlier, clueless) but she was like “oh wait, i’m going to call down there just to prove them wrong”. so she gets on the phone first with their contact @ ticketmaster to make sure, and then calls Meijer to verify that in fact, they DID have the tickets. during all this, my mom knew what was going on and had called Grandville Meijer. they couldn’t find anything either, but my mom kept giving them ideas of what to search for in their computer and they found it. so my mom told me to go to grandville Meijer instead, since i was still quite irked about the other one and the people there said there was no line.

so i come pretty close to breaking a few speed limits, but get to grandville Meijer at about 9:40, still with plenty of time - ended up parking next to my mom, because she had decided that our house was closer than i was (driving) at the time and that she’d save me a spot. so i went to look for “my dishes” and was on my way back, and she called my cell and was like “the guy was going to be all ready to get the tickets at 10, but now he can’t start up the computer, so we have to go BACK to Jenison Meijer”. of course i was quite irritated, because by then it was 9:50.

so a few more frantic minutes back to Jenison Meijer (i pulled in the lot at 9:59), a mad dash into the store, and i came upon a line at the ticket counter. thank goodness my mom was a few feet behind me (she had driven in the SUV), because i about went postal.

somehow, tickets weren’t gone by the time we got to the counter - i would have b*tched that lady out sooooooooo bad if they would have, and then found the store manager and ranted quite a bit more - and i got my two.

so after that, my mom and i decided to pick up “my dishes”, since we’ve gone to probably 5 stores and not found anything i REALLY like besides this one set. (i’ve started to buy some stuff to put into storage in our basement for my future apartment). so i get home, open them up and one’s cracked in half. so back to jenison meijer i went… and exchanged them. and got a good set.

and by this time, it was 11am.

fun, huh?

*groan*

  1. One Response to “massive frustration…”

  2. That sounded like a fun day of wasted time over and over again. I would have been so frustrated. At least you got everything done that you set out to do.
