friday five

June 13, 2003

it’s another week of the friday five (i figured i had to do these after i didn’t last week…)

1. What’s one thing you’ve always wanted to do, but never have? there’s so much… but one is getting my pilot’s license.. another is to race. i guess i’m a daredevil… lol

2. When someone asks your opinion about a new haircut/outfit/etc, are you always honest? usually

3. Have you ever found out something about a friend and then wished you hadn’t? What happened? it’s the story of my life *rolling eyes* and it always ends up a disaster. every freaking time. i think i’m a friendship curse…

4. If you could live in any fictional world (from a book/movie/game/etc.) which would it be and why? well, we were discussing willy wonka at work a few days ago…. the oompa loompas in the server room… ;)

5. What’s one talent/skill you don’t have but always wanted? there are 2 i can really think of: gymnastics and DRUMS!!

  3. On second thought, maybe you did tell me…gawd my memory sucks. *sigh*

Where would you go to get it?

  4. well, my dad used to work with colleen dodgen, who owns dodgen aircraft down in allegan… but i don’t think i’d want to drive down there and back for classes. and i don’t have a good $4k to shell out right now, either.

so it’s something i want to do, but until i’m not as broke as i am, it will have to wait.. :-/

  9. If getting a pilot’s license is too expensive for you, why not go for the skills that you don’t have that you always wanted?

Learning to drum is not difficult. There are Web sites that tell you how to read sheet music and play. You can also buy a cheapo drum set inexpensively, or even used. But your best bet might be a “drum pad” which makes little sound but has the same feel as a drum. Any music store will have them.

You can learn gymnastics! If you just want to do gymnastics for recreation, you are never too old. There are classes all over the US and while it may be a little more expensive than learning to drum, there are still tons of oppertunities.

  10. well, i was in choir for like 15 years between elementary/jr high/high school, so i have the sheet music reading skills down… they’re a little rusty though! ;) and at the moment, my schedule’s so packed with work and finishing up my last class… i’m going crazy as it is. eventually i want to learn though!

and as for gymn… i’m about 6′ tall and would need mega conditioning and upper body strength to start anything… lol. plus, i have recurring patellar tendonitis in my left kneecap. it sucks sometimes, and there’s nothing that they can really do for it short of strengthening up my knee, and giving me anti-inflammatories. :-/
